Netflix has axed comedy series Unstable starring Rob Lowe in the lead role after two seasons.

The show, also co-created by Lowe and his son John Owen Lowe, premiered its second season on August 1. Season one arrived in March 2023.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Unstable didn't enter the streamer's internal top 10 rankings in the weeks following its release. It was the 10th-ranked show for its premiere week and had 1.4 million views (hours viewed divided by running time).

Before the cancelation news broke, producers of Unstable were reportedly exploring other platforms for the show, but it wasn't possible due to the restrictions by the streaming giant. This is the not the first time Netflix has cancelled comedy shows. One Day At A Time and the recent That 90's Show too were abruptly cancelled by Netflix.

Unstable follows the elder Lowe as the extremely eccentric head of a biotechnology company and John Owen Lowe as his son, who joins the firm as a way to save both the business and his dad from spiraling out of control. The series premiered on Netflix on March 30, 2023. In November 2023, the series was renewed for a second season which was released on August 1, 2024.

Rob Lowe is currently starring in 911: Lone Star which is running its fifth and final season. He is also hosting Fox's game show The Floor.
