The Wild Robot director Christopher Sanders confirmed at today's Deadline Contenders event that DreamWorks Animation is developing a second part of the film.

Sanders has written and directed The Wild Robot, which is expected to have its India release next week. Jeff Hermann of DreamWorks Animation produced the film.

Based on Peter Brown’s The Wild Robot, the film stars Lupita Nyong'o as the voice of ROZZUM unit 7134, also known as 'Roz'. A shipwreck leaves Roz stranded on an island, where she must familiarise herself with its harsh environments, gradually forge relationships with its inhabitants, and play the role of a parent to a gosling. It is the first book in a book trilogy by Brown, and the second one is The Wild Robot Escapes.

Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Stephanie Hsu, and Bill Nighy also voice characters in The Wild Robot, which DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures launched earlier this year.
