The Russo Brothers' science-fiction feature The Electric State has long been in the making. The film, based on Simon Stalenhag's eponymous graphic novel, completed its production in February last year. Earlier today, Netflix released some images giving a first look at the characters of Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, among others, in the film. Brown plays Michelle, a youngster in search of her missing sibling, and Pratt stars in the film as an army veteran turned truck driver. The film also has Anthony Mackie as the voice of Herman, a construction machine that can transform from one size to another.

The Electric State is set in 1994 following a catastrophic war between human beings and AI that makes defeated robots go into exile at a desert exclusion area, even as society finds it difficult to rebuild. The film also stars Ke Huy Quan as Dr Amherst, Giancarlo Esposito as Colonel Marshall Bradbury, and Stanley Tucci as Ethan Skate.

The Russo Brothers last directed the 2022 release The Gray Man, starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, and Dhanush, among others. Their upcoming projects also include Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which bring back Robert Downey Jr to the MCU as Doctor Doom.
