Reports have emerged that the biopic of 1950s Hollywood actor James Dean is in the works with Physical Attraction director Guy Guido.

The announcement was timed on the 69th death anniversary of Dean on September 30.

In his short-yet-prolific career, Dean has starred in several uncredited roles from 1950–53, but he played the main lead in only three films, namely East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause, and Giant. Guido's film is said to be based on Dean's 2006 memoir Surviving James Dean by William Bast.

Bast, who died in 2015 at age 84, was Dean's roommate who eventually became his lover. Bast even in the memoir wrote how they kept their romance away from the public not to ruin the actor's image as homosexuality was looked down upon during the 1950s.

Guido's film will focus on the first meeting between Bast and Dean to the actor's death in a car accident on September 30, 1955.

The project is yet to find a producer. The actor got several biopics, with the one of the most popular being a 2001 TV biopic with James Franco starring in it.
