Mary Elizabeth Ellis has signed on to star in the marriage comedy Ditched, as per a Variety report. An adaptation of Lisa C Carey and Caroline Grace-Cassidy's novel Bride Squad Runaway, the film stars Ellis in the role of a sports journalist named Lauren who is too committed to her profession.

Carey and Grace-Cassidy are adapting Bride Squad Runaway for Pollyanna McIntosh to direct. Describing Ellis as a "magnificent" actor, Grace-Cassidy expressed her delight at her being cast in the role of Lauren.

The film follows Lauren's friendship with Ava (Jade Jordan) and Kate (Amy de Bhrún). Ava grieves the passing of her mother, whereas Kate finds it difficult to juggle her job as a top attorney and her responsibility of being a mother of two. A devastating situation brings the three friends back together.

Production on Ditched is expected to commence in Ireland's capital Dublin and Wild Atlantic Way early next year.

Besides Ditched, Ellis also plays a role in the upcoming Dwayne Johnson-JK Simmons Christmas film Red One.
