Disney and Lucasfilm have confirmed that the animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions is set to return for a third season. The official announcement was made on the first day of Disney’s two-day Content Showcase event in Singapore.

The upcoming season, which will premiere in 2025, will feature nine new animated shorts from various anime studios based in Japan including David Production, Kamikaze Douga+ ANIMA, Kinema Citrus, Polygon Pictures, Production I.G, Project Studio Q, TRIGGER and WIT Studio.

When it premiered in 2021, Star Wars: Visions marked a daring creative move by Lucasfilm. This anthology series featured a collection of non-canon animated shorts, each brought to life by a different Japanese animation studio, showcasing diverse animation styles. The freedom from canonical constraints allowed for highly inventive takes on the Star Wars universe, earning widespread praise from both fans and critics.

The second volume was released in May 2023, and featured episodes from various international studios including Aardman from the UK, El Guiri from Spain, Cartoon Saloon from Ireland, and Punkrobot from Chile, among others. It was also received with critical success.
