At a recent event, director Kevin Smith confirmed that he is working on a sequel to his 1999 religious satire, Dogma. The original film stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in lead roles with Kevin Smith in a cameo appearance.

The update comes years after Smith turned down a proposal for a Dogma sequel from producer Harvey Weinstein. Smith seemed positive about Damon and Affleck reprising their roles of fallen angels Loki and Bartleby, respectively.

Dogma is the fourth film in Kevin Smith's cinematic universe known as View Askewniverse, after ClerksMallrats, and Chasing Amy. The plot follows two fallen angels as they try to enter heaven again through a loophole. The cast also includes Salma Hayek, Linda Fiorentino, Chris Rock, Alan Rickman, Alanis Morissette, Jason Lee, Smith, and Jason Mewes. Kevin Smith last directed the semi-autobiographical coming-of-age comedy film, The 4:30 Movie. The writer-director is also reportedly working on a third Jay and Silent Bob film, in which he is expected to reprise the role of Silent Bob.
