Lupita Nyong’o, an Oscar-winning actor, is set to feature in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project for Universal. She will join an ensemble cast that already includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, and Zendaya.
The yet-to-be-titled film is scheduled for Imax release on July 17, 2026. Universal Studios is yet to provide confirmation about Nyong'o's casting.
Plot details are scarce, but speculations are that the film is scheduled to go on floors in early 2025. Nolan will direct and write the screenplay, with his wife Emma Thomas producing under their Syncopy banner.
The upcoming film will mark Nyong'o's first collaboration with Nolan. This upcoming film will mark Damon's third collaboration with Nolan after Interstellar (2014) and Oppenheimer. The film will mark Nolan's 13th as a director. It marks Holland's first collaboration with Nolan.
Universal also backed Nolan's Oppenheimer, which went on to win several Academy Awards, including Best Actor and Best Director. The director's partnership with the production house began following his highly publicised departure from Warner Bros. in 2020. Unlike Oppenheimer, which Universal acquired through an open auction, Nolan's upcoming project has been secured directly by the studio, according to reports.
Recently, Nyong’o appeared in Paramount’s A Quiet Place: Day One and voiced a character in Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot.
