Veteran actor Richard Foronjy, who was well known for featuring in films like Midnight Run and Carlito's Way, has passed away. He was 86.

According to the Variety, the actor had died last week.

Foronjy's real life was not any less dramatic than his films. Starting off as a gangster, Foronjy made amends after he was imprisoned.

Born in 1937 in Brooklyn, New York, his first feature Serpico in 1973 was an autobiographical crime drama starring Al Pacino as the whistle blower whose expose led to the Knapp Commission investigation.

He has also starred in films like Fun with Dick and Jane (1977), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), Fatal Instinct (1992), and Man of the House (1995). His credits include TV shows like Who's the Boss, Murphy's Law, Silver Spoons, The Jeffersons, Cagney & Lacy and Hill St. Blues.

Foronjy is survived by his partner Wendy Odell Chiaro; his three brothers Charles, Frank, and William; children Charles Foronjy, Susan Argentina, Christine Argentina, and 17 grandchildren.
