Robert Downey Jr to back Steve McQueen's dream project Yucatan

Mexican writer Dunnet-Alcocer joins the project as the fourth writer following Paul Scheuring, Anthony Peckham and Terry Rossio

Actor Robert Downey Jr has revived Yucatan, the dream project of late Steve McQueen, by backing the film with Susan Downey under their Team Downey banner.

Going by McQueen's script, which was discovered after his death, he wanted to take the lead as a renegade salvage expert's search for Mayan treasure in the Yucatan Peninsula.

Mexican writer Dunnet-Alcocer joins the project as the fourth writer following Paul Scheuring, Anthony Peckham and Terry Rossio. How is Dunnet-Alcocer is going the set the film is under the wraps.

It is still too early to get to the cast and crew of the project, according to Deadline.

All eyes are on the combination of Robert Downey Jr and Dunnet-Alcocer, as Downey Jr is fresh off an Oscar win for his portrayal of Rear Admiral Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. Dunnet-Alcocer on the other hand got on the map following his work with Warner Bros on Blue Beetle, starring Xolo Mariduena as the DC superhero. He is also busy with the Prime Video spinoff series The Boys: Mexico.
