The Chi series renewed for seventh season

Right after the first half of The Chi's season six viewership bettered its previous season by 25 percent, Paramount+ alongwith Showtime has renewed the series for the seventh season.

This announcement comes two days ahead of the streaming of sixth season's second half on May 10.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production of the seventh season is slated to begin later this month in Chicago.

The series which debuted in 2018, stars Jason Mitchell, Ntare Guma Mbhaho Mwine, Jacob Latimore, Alex R Hibbert, Tiffany Boone, Yolonda Ross, Armando, Riesco, Barton, Shamon Brown Jr, Michael V Epps, Birgundi Baker, Luke James, Curtiss Cook, and Rolando Boyce in main roles. Among them, Jacob Latimore, Alex R Hibbert, and Yolonda Ross have appeared in all the six seasons.

The official logline reads, "The Chi is a timely coming-of-age drama series centered on a group of residents who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption."

The series, created by Lena Waithe, is executive produced by her along with Lonnie Rashid Lynn (known by his stage name Common), Elwood Reid, Aaron Kaplan, Rick Famuyiwa, Ayanna Floyd Davis, Justin Hillian, Jet Wilkinson, Shelby Stone, and Derek Dudley.
