Actor Susan Buckner passes away at 72

Former Miss Washington and actor, Susan Buckner breathed her last on May 2, her publicist has confirmed. She was 72.

Born on January 28, 1952 in Washington's Seattle, Buckner was crowned Miss Washington in 1971. Before her Hollywood debut, she joined the all female troupe of singers and dancers, The Golddiggers, created for the reality show "The Dean Martin Show". She later formed her music duo Buckner and Pratt. She appeared as a dancer in several other shows like The Mac Davis Show and Sonny and Cher.

Buckner's Hollywood debut came at the age of 25 in John Travolta-Olivia Newton-John starrer Grease (1978). She went on to star in films like Deadly Blessing (1981) and Police Academy 6: City Under Siege (1989). She also starred in guest roles in TV shows like The Love Boat and The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries.

Post her brief acting career, she took to teaching dance at the Body and Soul Gym in Florida and directing children's theatre productions at the Pinecrest Elementary School.

She is survived by her children Adam Josephs and daughter Samantha Mansfield; her four granchildren, her sister, Linda; her daughter-in-law and son-in-law and her partner, Al.
