MGM+ has ordered an adaptation of Earth Abides, George R. Stewart's science-fiction novel, with Alexander Ludwig attached to star in it. The actor took to X to share the news the other day. Ludwig will play the protagonist, namely Ish, and the series will go on floors in Vancouver this April.

The logline of the series reads thus: “When a plague of unprecedented virulence sweeps the globe, the human race is all but wiped out. In the aftermath, as the great machine of civilization slowly and inexorably breaks down, only a few shattered survivors remain to struggle against the slide into extinction.”

Variety reported that MGM+ has ordered all the six episodes in the science-fiction series, and it will expectedly have a premiere on the streaming platform later this year.

Besides co-writing the show, Todd Komarnicki will act as its executive producer and showrunner. The team of writers for the show also includes Karen Janszen, Evan Hart, Kyle Stephen, and Tony Spiridakis.

Bronwen Hughes, Rachel Leiterman, and Stephen Campanelli are set to direct two episodes each.
