According to reports, director Chen Daming is currently in talks to make a book-to-film adaptation of writer James Zimmerman's acclaimed historical non-fiction book, The Peking Express.

The book follows a raid by Chinese bandits on a luxury express train in Shandong Province in 1923, following which the carriage was taken hostage for six weeks. It is worth noting that the hostages taken during the robbery belonged to several nationalities.

The project is expected to take shape by the collaboration of Chen Daming and producer Chris Lee who served as the president of production at TriStar Pictures and Columbia Pictures. Daming is known for his indie hits such as Manhole and One Foot off the Ground.

According to sources close to the makers, the screenplay for the film is being drafted and will be made as a China-international co-production.
