Taken director Pierre Morel to helm NFT racing-based film

Pierre Morel, best known for the Liam Neeson-starrer Taken, has been chosen to direct a feature film based on NFT Reactor Motors racing, according to a Deadline report. Morel will also produce the film, with Abstract Entertainment's Barry Levine and Mike Bundlie as well as Sentient Entertainment's Renee Tab.

Bundlie created the plot of Reactor Motors, which revolves around the accidental discovery by Eva Mason of a mineral during her geothermal energy research in Icelandic volcanoes. He told Deadline, “Pierre is the perfect director for Reactor with his ability to convey deeply emotional connections to characters within a high octane action setting. Having him, Abstract and Sentient at the helm, is our dream team for introducing the world of Reactor to a new audience. I’m overjoyed to be bringing this world to the screen that has been so passionately supported by the collectors (sic).”

Morel turned to direction after working as a cinematographer, and his Liam Neeson-starrer not only became a blockbuster but also gave birth to a TV series and two sequels. Before Taken, he directed District B13, an action film that achieved a cult status as well as gave rise to English remake and a sequel. His last film was the John Cena-starrer Freelance, and he is presently working on the Kate Beckinsale-starrer Canary Black.
