On Sunday, Akhil Sathyan took to social media to announce that his sophomore directorial venture will be headlined by Nivin Pauly. The filmmaker made his debut with the Fahadh Faasil-starrer Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum, which also featured Anjana Jayaprakash in the lead.
Akhil, in his announcement, begins by reminiscing how he got a call from Nivin while working for his father Sathyan Anthikkad's Jomonte Suvisheshangal, starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead, as an assistant director. "He straight away asked the possibility of doing a film together."
As stated by Akhil, Nivin's faith in him made him write for his debut film, which was "exclusively" written for the latter but it didn't happen due to "practical" reasons.
Sharing that the "joy is beyond words", the filmmaker added, "Today, I wrote his [Nivin] intro scene for my second film. Universe plays the best puzzle game and everything falls into place at the right time." More details on the project are awaited.
Meanwhile, Nivin was last seen in Dijo Jose Antony's Malayalee From India. His upcoming slate includes Dear Students, alongside Nayanthara, debutant Aaryan Ramani Girijavallabhavan's film, and a Tamil film Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, directed by Ram. Additionally, he is also making his web series debut in Disney+ Hotstar's Pharma, directed by Finals-fame Arun PR.
