Actor Jurnee Smollett, who is best known for films like The Great Debaters, Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, and Birds of Prey, joins the cast of Apple TV+'s upcoming series Firebug. It also stars Taron Egerton in a significant part.

According to reports, Firebug is set in the contemporary Pacific Northwest. It is a fictional story based on true events inspired by a podcast of the same name. The two actors will play detectives investigating arsonists. Created by Dennis Lehane, Egerton also serves as the show's executive producer.

Meanwhile, Smollett was last seen in The Burial, along with Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones. The actor's other acting credits include One Last Thing, Hands of Stone, The Twilight Zone and Lovecraft Country, among others.
