Andrew Barth Feldman, Finn Wolfhard, and Kaia Gerber have signed up for the film that explores what happened behind closed doors in the lead-up to the premiere of Saturday Night Live on NBC in 1975. Gerber will play Jacqueline Carlin, Feldman will portray Neil Levy, and Wolfhard will essay the role of an an NBCUniversal page in the film on Saturday Night Live.

The film, which has SNL 1975 as its working title, is being directed by Jason Reitman based on a Gil Kenan screenplay. The basis for the script is a set of interviews that Kenan and Reitman did with some of the Saturday Night Live cast, as well as its crew members and writers. Kenan and Reitman are also producing the film alongside Jason Blumenfeld, Peter Rice, and Erica Mills. On the other hand, Sony Pictures is distributing the film.

SNL 1975 marks a reunion of Feldman with Sony after his headliner turn with Jennifer Lawrence for the studio's last No Hard Feelings. Gerber, meanwhile, played a role in Emma Seligman's recent sex comedy Bottoms set in a high school. On the other hand, Wolfhard is reprising his role in Sony's next Ghostbusters film and is most recognised as Mike Wheeler from Stranger Things on Netflix.
