A new trailer of The First Omen, the upcoming prequel to the 1976 horror film The Omen, was released by the makers on Monday. The film is headlined by Nell Tiger Free, Tawfeek Barhom and Ralph Ineson.

In The First Omen, a young American woman embarks on a religious mission to Rome. But her faith is soon challenged by a dark force that threatens her very core beliefs. The trailer keeps the protagonist's fate shrouded in secrecy, hinting at a horrifying encounter with the evil force.

Sonia Braga, Charles Dance and Bill Nighy round out the supporting cast of The First Omen.

Arkasha Stevenson has helmed The First Omen which has screenplay written by him along with Tim Smith and Keith Thomas. Ben Jacoby is behind the film's story.

The First Omen, backed by 20th Century Studios, is all set to hit theatres on April 5.
