The star-studded Oscars 2024 had some fun and emotional moments for sure, but it was Messi who stole the show during the evening.

Despite media reports suggesting that the four-legged star won’t make it to the grand event, Messi was seen rehearsing his lines with the host of the night Jimmy Kimmel.

Seated amidst stars, wearing a bow-tie was the seven-year-old Border Collie, who played a pivotal role in the Oscar-winner Anatomy of a Fall.

Messi played Snoop, Milo Machado-Garner’s service dog in the Oscar-winning film. The border collie shot to fame ever since and has been attending award events. He debuted at the 96th Academy Awards, leaving social media users in awe. He was also seen applauding to some names when mentioned during the show.

During the opening monologue by Jimmy Kimmel, he pointed at Messi saying, "Even though he’s a dog, Messi may have given the performance of the year in Anatomy of a Fall. He has an overdose scene. I haven’t seen a French actor eat vomit like that since Gerard Depardue,” Kimmel said in his opening monologue."

Anatomy of a Fall, directed by Justine Triet, won the Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards. The film, which premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on 21 May 2023, won the Palme d'Or and the Palm Dog Award and competed for the Queer Palm. It also won two Golden Globes and one BAFTA.
