The sci-fi/romance film Fingernails, starring Riz Ahmed and Jessie Buckley, will be the closing film of the 58th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) in July.

This will be filmmaker Christos Nikou's sophomore feature, who is also making his English-language debut.

The festival organisers described the film as an 'unusual romance' and called Riz Ahmed and Jesse Buckley's performances 'disarming'.

Apart from Buckley and Ahmed, the film also stars Jeremy Allen White, Luke Wilson, Christian Meer, Amanda Arcuri, Annie Murphy, Katy Breier, Clare McConnell, Nina Kiri, Jim Watson, Varun Saranga, and Juno Rinaldi.

The film, written by Nikou, Sam Steiner, and Stavros Raptis, is produced by Nikou, Coco Francini, Andrew Upton, Cate Blanchett, and Lucas Wiesendanger.

Cinematographer Marcell Rev, editor Yorgos Zafeiris, and music composer Christopher Stracey are part of Fingernails' technical crew.

The nine-day-long festival runs from June 28 to July 6.
