The makers of Red One released the first-look poster for the film, which also stars Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans in the lead roles. The poster features JK Simmons clad in a Santa Claus costume. It contains the lines, "Missing cosmic force of hope and holiday cheer. Last seen at the North Pole. Please provide any information to the ELF."

The film also stars Bonnie Hunt, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Kristofer Hivju, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Nick Kroll, and Wesley Kimmel. Jake Kasdan directed the film from a Chris Morgan screenplay. The logline reads thus: "After a shocking abduction from the North Pole, the Commander of the E.L.F. Task Force must partner with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter to save Christmas."

Kasdan and Morgan are also producing the film, alongside Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Johnson, and Melvin Mar. Red One is slated for a November 15 release in theatres.
