Actor Jared Leto will star in and produce a feature-length film inspired by the tale of Dr Lawrence Gray, a former professor who allegedly became a cunning thief.

The yet-to-be-titled project, penned by screenwriter Andy Bellin (known for Lovelace), is based on Steve Kroft and Howard L Rosenberg's article, titled "The Talented Dr. Gray," which got featured on the Air Mail digital magazine back in 2022. The film's story follows a charming professor who uses his social connections to infiltrate high-society homes and steal millions of dollars worth of valuables.

Leto, known for his performances in films like Requiem for a Dream, Dallas Buyers Club, and Blade Runner 2049, recently portrayed WeWork's co-founder Adam Neumann in WeCrashed, an Apple TV+ series. He will next be seen in Tron: Ares, which will be the third instalment in the science-fiction franchise and will also star Gillian Anderson, Jeff Bridges, and Evan Peters.
