Streaming platform Netflix has roped in Tyler Perry to write and direct its upcoming film Straw, starring Taraji P Henson, Sherri Shepherd and Teyana Taylor.

The film, billed a tense drama, is about a single mother who is led to an unexpected path owing to some unfortunate events in her life. The official logline of Straw reads, "“she becomes entangled in a situation she never imagined and finds herself at the center of suspicion in a world that seems indifferent to her existence.”

Apart from Henson, Sherri Shepherd, Teyana Taylor, Glynn Turman, Sinbad, Rockmond Dunbar, and Mike Merrill round out the cast.

Straw will be the latest project from Perry and Netflix's multi-year partnership deal in which he is supposed to direct and produce for the streaming platform.

Perry's other upcoming projects are The Six Triple Eight, starring Kerry Washington and drama series Beauty in Black.
