An adaptation of Lynn Varley and Frank Miller's graphic novel 300 is being developed at Warner Bros. Television, according to Variety. While the studio is yet to reveal the plot details, it would reportedly be a prequel to writer-director Zack Snyder's 2006 film starring Gerard Butler. With deals being negotiated, Snyder is in talks to executive produce and direct the show. The executive producer of 300, Deborah Snyder would also come back to executive produce the series through Stone Quarry, the banner that she and Zack own. Wesley Coller of Stone Quarry is also set to executive produce the show. The film's producers, Gianni Nunnari, Bernie Goldmann, and Mark Canton are in negotiations to come back on board.

Varley and Miller wrote the graphic novel '300' that is loosely based on historical events and that took inspiration from 1962's The 300 Spartans. A followup to 300 came out in theatres in 2014, titled 300: Rise of an Empire, which Noam Murro directed from a script by Snyder and Kurt Johnstad based on Frank Miller's 'Xerxes' comic books.
