Earlier, we reported that a standalone Peaky Blinders film, starring Cillian Murphy is under development at Netflix. The latest update is that Rebecca Ferguson, known for Dune and Mission: Impossible, is onboard the film's cast. Ferguson has been added as the only high-profile co-star to Murphy, and details about her character and role in the story are currently being kept secret.

Tom Harper will direct the film based on a screenplay by Steven Knight, the creator and screenwriter of Peaky Blinders. Comprising six seasons, Peaky Blinders centres on the adventures of a gangster family in the late 1910s in England following World War I. It stars Murphy as Tommy Shelby, the most important family member, who makes all the big calls.

The Peaky Blinders film is being produced by Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy, and Guy Heeley, with executive producers Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason also on board. Additionally, the film is being made in collaboration with BBC Film.

Ferguson recently joined Katheryn Bigelow's upcoming film for Netflix, which also stars Idris Elba, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, and Greta Lee. Last seen in Dune: Part Two, she also has Mercy in the pipeline.
