Timothee Chalamet is cast as the lead in filmmaker Josh Safdie's upcoming film Marty Supreme, confirmed A24 through an X post. The makers are yet to disclose the specifics of Chalamet's role or the film's other cast and crew members. According to reports, the late table tennis player Marty Reisman serves as an inspiration for the film.

Ronald Bronstein and Safdie himself will write the film. It brings Safdie and A24 together after the latter served as the distributor for the former's previous two features, Good Time and Uncut Gems.

Since 2019, Benny and Josh Safdie have parted ways creatively in order to make films on their own. Benny opted out of the planned sequel to Uncut Gems, the current status of which is unclear.

Marty Supreme marks a comeback to directorial duties for Josh Safdie after the Adam Sandler starrer and his maiden film as a solo filmmaker following his 2008 debut The Pleasure of Being Robbed.

On the other hand, Chalamet recently completed production on the James Mangold directorial A Complete Unknown, where he plays Bob Dylan.
