Brendan Gleeson and Lamorne Morris have been added to the cast of the show Spider-Noir, according to a Variety report. They join Nicolas Cage, the earlier-announced lead actor of the series, from showrunners and executive producers Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot. Previously titled Spider-Man Noir, the series will premiere on the linear channel of MGM+ in the US and on Amazon Prime Video internationally. According to the official plotline, Spider-Noir "tells the story of an ageing and down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”

The makers are yet to reveal the specifics of Gleeson’s role, but the actor will reportedly be the villain of the show. On the other hand, Morris will play Robbie Robertson, a driven, dedicated, and hard-working journalist in 1930s New York who is willing to go to any lengths for career success. In the Spider-Man comics, Robertson is the editor of The Daily Bugle, an NY newspaper.

Morris's most popular works include the comedy shows New Girl and Woke, as well as the anthology show Fargo. His upcoming projects also include the tentatively-titled film SNL 1975 and Unstable season 2. Spider-Noir is among the first-announced projects of Gleeson after his Golden Globe award-nominated performance in The Banshees of Inisherin. Gleeson's future projects also include the Joker sequel, starring Joaquin Phoenix.
