Earlier, we reported that Cillian Murphy is all set to headline and produce the Netflix film, Steve. The latest update is that the production for the film is nearly wrapping up this week, in the UK. The film is an adaptation of Max Porter's novel Shy.

Tim Mielants, who has helmed Murphy's Small Things Like These, is the director of Steve. Jay Lycurgo is a part of the film's main cast which is a 24-hour story of the eponymous character, who works as a headteacher at a last-chance reform school. He struggles to discipline his students on the one hand as he grapples with his spiralling mental health on the other.

The announcement of Steve came along with the launch of Murphy's production banner, Big Things Film, which he has begun with longtime collaborator Alan Moloney. Netflix has greenlit Steve, which will be backed by Big Things and distributed by the streamer.

The novel's author, Porter, has penned the screenplay for the film. Porter has previously collaborated with Murphy on the stage adaptation of his book, Grief is the Thing with Feathers, and on the short film, All of This Unreal Time.
