Mortal Kombat 2 wraps filming

Simon McQuoid, who directed the first film, has returned to helm the sequel

Mortal Kombat 2, the sequel to the 2021 film Mortal Kombat film has wrapped filming. The film's producer Todd Garner took to his Twitter to announce that the film's shoot has concluded. 

In a video, Garner said, "That’s a wrap from me on Mortal Kombat. This has been an incredible, incredible journey. I can’t wait for you all to see what we’ve done. It’s gonna be a while, we have a lot of work to do. I know I’m gonna start getting a lot of messages about like, 'When is the trailer? When is the trailer?' It’s gonna be a while. We’re gonna work hard, we’re gonna get it done. I think we made something special, and I hope you agree."

The action-adventure film is based on the widely successful video game franchise. Simon McQuoid, who directed the first film, has returned to helm the sequel, which will be headlined by Karl Urban. 

Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Mehcad Brooks, Tadanobu, Hiroyuki Sanada, Chin Han, Ludi Lin and Joe Taslim are expected to reprise their role in the sequel. Martyn Ford, Desmond Chaim, Ana Thu Nguyen and Damon Herriman are the newest members to join the cast of Mortal Kombat 2

Mortal Kombat 2 does not have a release date yet.
