Netflix is gearing up to exclusively release the much-anticipated sequel to the successful sci-fi film Code 8. Titled Code 8: Part II, the film starring Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell, will hit the platform on February 28.

It is to be noted that Code 8 was originally a YouTube short which evolved into a full-length feature film in 2019 and gained widespread attention when it was released in 2020.

Code 8 Part II picks up after the events of the first movie, which introduced a gritty world where 4 per cent of the population is born with supernatural abilities. Instead of being loved as superheroes, these power-enabled people face discrimination and live in poverty, often resorting to crime.

Connor Reed (Robbie), a power-enabled young man, was lured into the lucrative criminal world by Garrett (Stephen), who helped Connor sharpen his powers in order to execute a series of crimes on behalf of a drug kingpin, while a militarized police unit hunted them down.

In Part II, he now works as a janitor at a community centre, keeping his head down and maintaining distance from Garrett and his crew. His peace doesn't last long when a 14-year-old named Pav (Sirena Gulamgaus) must escape from a corrupt police sergeant (Alex Mallari Jr.), and Connor is forced to turn to Garrett for help.

The sequel also stars Aaron Abrams, Alex Mallari, Jr., and Jean Yoon.

Code 8 scribes Sherren Lee and Jesse Lavercombe, who previously worked on Murdoch Mysteries, collaborated with Chris Paré and Jeff Chan to write the screenplay for Code 8 Part II. In addition to directing, Chan also produced, working alongside producers Paré, Robbie Amell, Stephen Amell, and Steven Hoban (The Peripheral). a group of pictures created. In the follow-up, Aaron Abrams (NBC's Hannibal) and Jean Yoon (Kim's Convenience) will rejoin the previously stated cast.
