Filmmaker Christopher Landon, who recently stepped down as director of Scream 7, is set to direct the thriller Big Bad.

The film is based on a short story by Chandler Baker, where a family is trapped in an isolated farmhouse and hunted by werewolves.

The makers are in the final stages of negotiations with Lionsgate to land the project, which will be produced by Todd Lieberman and Hidden Pictures.

Christopher Landon, who is best known for directing the Happy Death Day series and Freaky, revealed last year that he had decided to leave the production of Scream 7. He announced his departure on his social media handle, saying, "I guess now is as good a time as any to announce I formally exited Scream 7 weeks ago. This news may disappoint some and satisfy others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. My heart truly broke for everyone involved, but it's time to move on".

It is worth mentioning that Spyglass, the production company behind Scream 7, fired actress Melissa Barrera due to her social media posts that were deemed antisemitic. Furthermore, it was later revealed that Jenna Ortega, who plays a significant role in the franchise, would not return.
