The Big Sick's writer duo Kumail Nanjiani and Emily v Gordon have joined hands once again for a new romantic comedy film, as per their statement to Variety. Further, Nanjiani will also star in this film, the production and development of which is set to begin soon.

“We wrote a script that we’re looking to make," Nanjiani said to Varitey's Marc Malkin during the On the Carpet show. The duo, however only revealed that the film will have elements of comedy, romance and drama and that it will follow another relationship that is “not as personal” as The Big Sick

He further said, “It’s not as nakedly auto-biographical and it is about someone who should go to therapy.” Gordon and Nanjiani are currently looking for a production company. Gordon is set to produce the film, co-written by the duo.

It is to be noted that Nanjiani and Gordon are married and The Big Sick, which came out in 2017, was based on their real-life story. A stand-up comedian, Kumail falls for Emily, and the relationship becomes complicated when the latter is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Their cultural differences and family dynamics cause more chaos. The film won an Oscar nomination and a Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Comedy.
