It is well known that Netflix has renewed its supernatural comedy horror Wednesday for a second season. The series stars Jenna Ortega in the titular role and the second season's shooting will commence in Ireland at the end of April 2024. 

Speaking to E! on the Emmys red carpet she's received some scripts for the upcoming season. “We’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror,” Ortega said in an update to fans. “It’s really, really exciting because, all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes and that’s the wonderful thing about her.

She further added, “There’s really, really good one-liners and I think everything’s bigger. It’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.” 

Based on the character Wednesday Addams from the Addams Family, a multimedia franchise created by American cartoonist Charles Addams, the series is created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The first season consists of eight episodes.

The official description of the first season read, Wednesday "attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore." 

Apart from Jenna, the show's first-season cast includes Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, and Jamie McShane, among others.

Apart from the second season of Wednesday, Netflix is also developing a spinoff centred on Uncle Fester who was introduced in the first season and portrayed by Saturday Night Live alumni Fred Armisen.
