Hollywood actor Christian Oliver, his two young daughters and the pilot died in a plane crash near a Caribbean island, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force announced.
Oliver, whose real name was Christian Klepser, was 51. His daughters, Madita Klepser and Annik Klepser, were 12 and 10, respectively. Pilot Robert Sachs also died in the crash, reports Variety.
Oliver, who appeared on the big screen with George Clooney in The Good German and in the 2008 action-comedy Speed Racer, died aboard a privately owned, one-engine aircraft after which fishermen, divers and coast guard immediately went to the scene, where four bodies were recovered.
Oliver, 51, died along with his daughters Madita, 10, and Annik, 12, and pilot Robert Sachs.
The plane was travelling from Bequia, a small island in the Grenadines, to St Lucia shortly after midday Thursday.
They were transported to St. Vincent and taken to the Kingstown Mortuary, where post-mortem examinations will be done to determine the causes of death.
Thursday’s deadly crash drew an outpouring of condolences for the family and friends of the late actor, who had finished filming his final scenes on the set of an upcoming film titled Forever Hold Your Peace just five days before Christmas.
Just a few days before the crash, the actor expressed his excitement for the new year and shared a sunset photo on Instagram. He said, "Let love rule. Wishing all of you the best for 2024." In the caption, he wrote, "Greetings from somewhere in paradise. To community and love... 2024 here we come."
Oliver had dozens of credits to his name from the 1990s through the 2020s. He most recently appeared in last year’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and played the racecar driver Snake Oiler in Speed Racer. He also had roles in Sense8, Inspector George Gently, The Baby-Sitters Club and Saved by the Bell: The New Class.
