The final trailer for the Mean Girls reboot, also titled Mean Girls: The Musical was released on Wednesday. The film is the official adaptation of the Broadway show based on the famous 2004 teen comedy.

The trailer shows that not much has changed in the Mean Girls universe when compared to the 2004 film. Angourie Rice plays the protagonist, Cady Heron, which was originally essayed by Lindsay Lohan. The principal antagonist, Regina George, played by Rachel McAdams is performed by Reneé Rapp in the upcoming film.

Tina Fey who played Ms Norbury in the original and Tim Meadows who played Principal Duvall, are reprising their roles in the reboot.  Fey, who wrote the script for both the film and the original musical, also penned the screenplay for the film. The story will follow the narrative of the original film, with musical additions.

Mean Girls: The Musical will also star Bebe Wood as Gretchen, Avantika as Karen, Auli'i Cravalho as Janis Ian, Jaquel Spivey as Damien, Jenna Fischer as Cady's mom, and Busy Philipps as Regina's mom.

Directed by Samantha Jayne, and Arturo Perez Jr., the upcoming Mean Girls film is all set to hit theatres on January 12.
