Steamboat Willie to get feature film adaptation 

Steven LaMorte will direct it

A feature length horror film based on the short film, Steamboat Willie, is under development, with Steven LaMorte roped in to direct the film. The upcoming film is yet to get an offical title.

Steamboat Willie is about a mouse, whose sadistic nature, drives it to torture a group of ferry passengers. The horror comedy is set to go on floors in spring.

Steamboat Willie has brought joy to generations, but beneath that cheerful exterior lies a potential for pure, unhinged terror. It’s a project I’ve been dreaming of, and I can’t wait to unleash this twisted take on this beloved character to the world,” Steven said in a statement as per Variety report.

It is to be noted that the copyright to Steamboat Willie, whcih was owned bty Disney, expired on Monday.

A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
