The trailer of Twisters was one of the many trailers that was unveiled during the Superbowl on Sunday. The film, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, is a sequel to the 1996 Twister, which revolved around a group of storm chasers.

The trailer starts by establishing the dreaded impact of the tempest. We are then introduced to Kate Cooper (Edgar-Jones) and Tyler Owens (Powell), opposing forces who come together to try to predict, and possibly tame, the immense power of the tornadoes.

The additional supporting cast of Twisters includes Brandon Perea, Sasha Lane, Daryl McCormack, Anthony Ramos, Kiernan Shipka, Nik Dodani, and Maura Tierney. With the script penned by Mark L Smith, the reboot is helmed by Lee Isaac Chung.

The original Twister starred Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Carey Elwes and Philip Seymour Hoffman, among others. The 1996 film earned about $500 million at the box office and received multiple Oscar nominations in the visual effects and sound categories. Helmed by Jan De Bont, with a screenplay by Michael Crichton, Steven Spielberg executive produced the film.

Twisters is backed by Warner Bros Pictures along with Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley. The film is set to hit the theatres on July 19, 2024.
