Karen Gillian to headline period comedy film Fools

Actor Karen Gillan is all set to play the lead in Fools, a period film on the life of Queen Mary Tudor. According to reports, Fools revolves around Mary Tudor's friendship with a female court jester (Jane Foole) as she ascends the throne following her father, King Henry VIII's demise. While Gillian plays Mary, the first female queen of England, Patsy Ferran plays Jane Foole.

Gillian is best known for appearing in films like Guardians of the Galaxy and the Jumanji reboot. The cast of the film also includes Brenda Blethyn, and Jim Broadbent. Fools is written and directed by Guy Jenkin, who is best known for films like The Sleeping Dictionary and the sitcom series Drop the Dead Donkey. On the other hand, Gillan will also appear alongside Russell Crowe in Sleeping Dogs and in the Tom Hiddleston-starrer The Life of Chuck, both of which are currently in post-production.
