Hollywood veteran Catherine O'Hara has joined the cast of HBO's The Last of Us season two.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, O'Hara has been roped in for an undisclosed role. She joins fellow newcomers Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced and Young Mazino.

Earlier we had reported that Dever will essay the role of Abby, “a skilled soldier whose black-and-white view of the world is challenged as she seeks vengeance for those she loved.”. Young Mazino has been roped in to essay the character, Jesse. The character Jesse is said to be the pillar of his community, whose intention to put everyone else's needs before his own costs him terribly sometimes.

Merced will portray Dina, described as “a free-wheeling spirit whose devotion to Ellie will be tested by the brutality of the world they inhabit”.

The Last of Us, which premiered on HBO in January 2023, follows the adventures of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as they travel across The United States to find the mysterious fireflies, a gang of revolutionaries attempting to overthrow the American military in the wake of a zombie apocalypse. With Ellie holding the keys to immunity in her genetic code, Joel needs to deliver her safely, or else risk the entire world losing the fight against the infected. Abby is positioned as one of the rivals of Ellie in the game.

Season one also starred Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, Storm Reid and Merle Dandridge.

The Last of Us has Craig Mazin as Executive Producer and co-showrunner alongside Neil Druckmann.
