A remake of the 1958 science fiction horror Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman is in the works at Warner Bros. Veteran filmmaker Tim Burton will direct the upcoming film from a script penned by author-script writer Gillian Flynn, who is best known for writing the 2014 film Gone Girl

The 1958 film starring  Allison Hayes, William Hudson and Yvette Vickers, tells the story of a wealthy heiress whose close encounter with an enormous alien in his round spacecraft causes her to grow into a giantess, complicating her marriage, which is already troubled due to her unfaithful husband.

Further plot and cast details about the remake are still under wraps.

It is to be noted that Tim Burton is currently collaborating with Warner Bros. for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to his 1988 classic Beetlejuice. The movie will see Michael Keaton reprise his titular character alongside Winona Ryder. It will hit the theatres on September 6.

Meanwhile, Gillian Flynn's novel Dark Places will be adapted as a limited series on HBO. She, along with Brett Johnson and Guerrin Gardner, will serve as the writer for the limited series.
