A release date has been announced for Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried's upcoming film, The Housemaid. Lionsgate's psychological thriller from director Paul Feig is all set to hit theatres for Christmas next year, on December 25, 2025.

The Housemaid is adapted from Freida McFadden's bestselling novel, which sold over 3.6 million copies. The film also stars Brandon Sklenar in a prominent role. In the film, Sweeney takes on the role of Millie, a young woman who accepts a position as a housemaid to a wealthy couple, Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew (Sklenar). However, “Millie soon learns the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own,” reads the official plotline.

Screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine is adapting the novel for the film. Sweeney, the star of Euphoria and Anyone But You, and Seyfried, known for Mamma Mia and The Dropout, will serve as executive producers alongside Alex Young and McFadden. Hidden Pictures' Todd Lieberman is the film's producer.

The film will open in theatres alongside the Avatar threequel, Avatar: Fire and Ash and The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants, which are scheduled for a December 19, 2025 release.
