Meet the Parents 4 in the works

The makers are yet to reveal the director who will helm the upcoming film.

Actors Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo and Blythe Danner are in negotiations to reprise their roles in the new Meet The Parents film which is in the works at Universal Pictures.

The fourth installment in the franchise will have a screenplay written by John Hamburg who will be returning after scripting the 2000 original and the two subsequent sequels - Meet the Fockers (2004) and Little Fockers (2010). The makers are yet to reveal the director who will helm the upcoming film.

The Jay Roach-directed Meet The Parents centres around a male nurse Greg Focker (Stiller) having trouble getting accepted by his girlfriend’s overbearing ex-CIA father Jack Byrnes (De Niro). Greg marries Jack’s daughter, Pam (Polo), and has children with her. Also a core cast member, Danner plays Jack’s wife, Dina. The film was critically acclaimed upon release, so were its sequels.

The film will be produced by Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro through Tribeca Productions, Jay Roach through Delirious Media, and Ben Stiller and John Lesher under their Red Hour Films.
