Earlier, we reported about the makers of the Harry Potter series announcing a casting call for characters such as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermoine Granger. Over the last few days, there have been significant buzz about the makers targeting popular British actors such as Mark Rylance, Paapa Essiedu, Sharon Horgan, Brett Goldstein, and Mark Strong for the grown-up roles in the series. If the rumours are anything to go by, they are considering Rylance and Strong for Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore, Essiedu for Potions Master Snape, Horgan for Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall, and Goldstein for Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid. However, the makers are yet to make formal offers to the actors.

Announced in April last year, the series has Harry Potter author JK Rowling and Mark Mylod as its executive producers and Succession fame Francesca Gardiner as its writer-showrunner.

Recently, Ralph Fiennes, the Voldemort star from the Harry Potter films, said that he would like to see Cillian Murphy as the antagonist in the series. It will be set at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden, the same location for the Harry Potter films.

Meanwhile, the makers plan a workshop for the children who auditioned for the lead roles in January.
