Julie Bowen to headline new NBC series, Taste

The series comes from writers and executive producers Justin Shames and Nedaa Swiess

Modern Family fame and Emmy Award-winning actor Julie Bowen is all set to headline a half-hour comedy series, Taste, which is currently in development in NBC and Universal Television. The series comes from writers and executive producers Justin Shames and Nedaa Swiess. 

Taste is set at a venerable Bay Area food magazine, where the staff's lives are disrupted when a Silicon Valley tech mogul takes over. The magazine's traditional editor (Bowen) is then paired with a trendy young TikTok chef, sparking a clash of culinary cultures.

Through the Bowen and Sons Production banner, Bowen is also executive producing the series alongside the company’s president Rachael Field, and Top Chef Judge and EP Gail Simmons.

For her portrayal of Claire Dunphy in the hit ABC series Modern Family, Bowen received two Emmy Awards. She was last seen in the comedy horror thriller Peacock series, Hysteria!  Her film credits include Happy Gilmore, a role she will reprise in the upcoming 2025 sequel. She also starred in Mixtape and Hubie Halloween, recently. As a filmmaker, Bowen has helmed two episodes of Modern Family and a short film starring Jenna Ortega, titled Girl Code.
