Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Thomas Kretschmann, Praya Lundberg, and Ashley Greene have been cast in Eyes in the Trees, starring Anthony Hopkins. The science-fiction film is touted as a modern reconceptualisation of the HG Wells novel The Island of Doctor Moreau.

In Eyes in the Trees, a video reporter (Meyers) sets off on a trip into a secluded forest known as Monkey Ko with his crew, but their journey becomes a survival fight for themselves and the whole of humanity. Greene will play the video journalist's erstwhile protege and ex. Hopkins will play Dr Addis, who is believed to be the leader of genetic manipulations and government experiments in the forest.

Timothy Woodward Jr will direct the film based on a screenplay by Mike Manning, Dominic Burns, and B Harrison Smith. It will go on floors later this year in Thailand.

Meyers is most popular for his performances in series such as The Tudors and Vikings.

Greene's works include The Twilight Saga, The Immaculate Room, The Retirement Plan, Wish I Was Here, and Bombshell.

Some of Kretschmann's recent credits are Gran TurismoIndiana Jones and the Dial of DestinyInfinity Pool and Greyhound.

Lundberg's earlier credits include Supercell and Paradise City, and she will next feature in The White Lotus.
