Ted Lasso is nearing a fourth season, according to Variety. Warner Bros Television has secured options for original stars Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. While Jason Sudeikis's involvement is expected in an executive producer capacity, Warner Bros Television is yet to confirm it.
Given their UK Equity membership, Waddingham, Goldstein, and Swift have separate contracts compared to the US SAG-AFTRA cast. Negotiations with the latter are scheduled to commence soon.
Speculation about a Ted Lasso revival has been circulating since the show concluded its run. In January, Warner Bros Television CEO Channing Dungey hinted at the prospect of continuing the series beyond its Season 3 finale.
“I mean, you watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door that could be kicked back open if need be,” stated Dungey. “I wouldn’t put the period on the end of that sentence just yet. There is still a lot of love for ‘Ted Lasso.’ And I think that there still is a lot of enthusiasm on the part of Apple for ‘Ted Lasso.’ Should the opportunity arise, we’d be excited to jump back in to making more…. There are always conversations that are ongoing, just nothing that’s official.”
Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis as the titular character, a Kansas-based college football coach who joins a professional soccer team in England, despite his lack of experience in the sport. The cast also includes Waddingham, Goldstein, Swift, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple, and Phil Dunster.
Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Hunt, and Joe Kelly developed it on the basis of the pre-existing format and characters from NBC Sports.
