Lionsgate Movies released the trailer for the upcoming film Megalopolis. Directed by veteran filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, Megalopolis hits screens on September 27.

The first minute of the trailer shows some of the negative reviews that Coppola's earlier classics like The Godfather (1972), Apocalypse Now (1979), and Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) had received during the time of their release. This could be in connection with the mixed reviews for Megalopolis during its industry and film festival screenings. 

Megalopolis is set in an imagined modern America, in the fictional city of New Rome. The official plotline reads, "New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver), a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito), who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero (Nathalie Emmanuel), the mayor's daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves."

Franchis Ford Coppola is known for having been one of New Hollywood's prominent filmmakers, having directed films like The Godfather Trilogy (1972–1990), The Conversation (1974), and Apocalypse Now (1979).

Megalopolis stars an ensemble cast that includes Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Talia Shire, Jason Schwartzman, Kathryn Hunter, Grace VanderWaal, Chloe Fineman, James Remar, DB Sweeney, and Dustin Hoffman.

The film marks Coppola's comeback to direction after the 2011 film Twixt.
