Woman of the Hour trailer: Anna Kendrick signs up for a killer date, literally

The trailer for Woman of the Hour, the directorial debut of Anna Kendrick, starring the actor in the lead role, was unveiled recently. Written by Ian MacAllister McDonald, the film is based on the true story of Rodney Alcala, a convicted serial killer who made a chilling appearance on The Dating Game TV show in 1978, during the time period when he committed his crimes.

The trailer shows Kendrick as Cheryl Bradshaw signing up for a dating game show. Little does she know the partner she is assigned is a serial killer. Whether or not she survives forms the rest of the story. The official synopsis reads, "Rodney Alcala was a killer in the midst of a killing spree when he brazenly took part and won a date on the popular TV game show The Dating Game." 

Daniel Zovatto stars as Rodney Alcala in Woman of the Hour which also features Nicolette Robinson, Tony Hale, Kathryn Gallagher, Kelley Jakle, and Autumn Best in supporting roles. 

Woman of the Hour premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2023. Produced by  AGC Studios, Vertigo Entertainment, and BoulderLight Pictures, the film is distibuted by Netflix.
