Director Justin Simien has said that Lando, the potential series spinoff of Solo: A Star Wars Story with Lando Calrissian star Donald Glover attached to to it, would not happen. Recently, Simien made the revelation while promoting his documentary series Hollywood Black in a conversation with Collider.

"It was pretty developed. Yeah, there was a Bible, there was concept art, there were scripts, but it just wasn’t meant to be," he said. While acknowledging his disappointment over the development, the filmmaker also talked about the positives he took away from it. He told the publication, "There’s so much that I experience that I get to keep forever and take into the next project. I can’t obviously take the storyline or the IP or the characters, but there’s so much more that I got, as a maker, and that’s mine. Sorry, it’s too late, you can’t take that part back."

The reason for the cancellation of the show is still unclear, but there is a lot of work coming Simien's way, including a Star Trek show with actor Tawny Newsome.
